55th Scientific Session of the Institute of Plant Protection ؘ– National Research Institute

 

Jubilee 55th Scientific Session of the Institute of Plant Protection ؘ– National Research Institute (IPP – NRI) in Poznań, took place on 12–13 February 2015, under the honorary patronage of Marek Sawicki, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The leading theme of Session was the importance of chemical methods in integrated pest management, which had to adapt to the requirements of measures to reduce the risks associated with the use of pesticides.

The topic of this year's session concerned, among others, the application of the principles of integrated plant protection after one year of implementation by professional users of pesticides the principles of integrated plant protection in accordance with Directive 2009/128/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for Community action to achieve sustainable use of pesticides. During the Session there was a lot of information on the achievements in the field of new methods of forecasting and signaling the appearance of agrophages, on the novelties in molecular biology as a tool for the diagnosis of agrophages. There were also presented issues concerning the influence of cultivation technology on plant health, strategies to prevent the resistance of pests to plant protection products and new threats from pests. It also presents the benefits or risks resulting from the use of reduced doses of herbicides, reduced doses of mixtures of plant protection products and the effect of herbicide/fertilizer mixtures on crop yielding.

In the 55th Scientific Session of the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI in Poznan participated about 600 people, 47 papers were delivered and 173 posters were presented.
