58th Scientific Session of the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute
The 58th Scientific Session of the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute (IPP – NRI) in Poznań, took place on 6–8 February 2018 in REMES & SPA Hotel, under the honorary patronage of Krzysztof Jurgiel, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region Marek Woźniak.
The 58th Scientific Session was full of anniversaries. The event was accompanied by the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the plant protection in Poland. In order to celebrate this anniversary, the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI decided to commemorate and award the medal "100 Years of Plant Protection" to people and institutions particularly distinguished for the development of plant protection in Poland. The celebration of the 100th anniversary of plant protection in our country has concurred with two other anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Władysław Węgorek, the founder and long-term Director of the Institute of Plant Protection.
Two thematic meetings were an important novelty of this year's Session: The Forum of Young Scientists and the Forum of Science to the Agricultural Practice, which inaugurated the conference.
On the second and third days of the conference, the paper and poster sessions were held. The papers were presented within several thematic areas, such as: phytopathology, herbology, entomology, biotechnology, plant protection technology and integrated plant protection. Special attention was paid to the issues of food safety and safety of chemical plant protection products. The conference also included a Pest Risk Assessment panel led by EFSA and EPPO members from Italy and France.
In the 58th Scientific Session of the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI in Poznan participated about 300 people, almoust 50 papers were delivered and about100 posters were presented. The issues discussed were very broad and varied.
