The Institute of Plant Protection – NRI consists of nine departments:

  • Department of Pesticide Residue Research
  • Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology
  • Department of Entomology and Animal Pests
  • Department of Weed Science and Plant Protection Techniques
  • Department of Biological Pest Control
  • Department of Monitoring and Signalling of Agrophages
  • Department of Mycology
  • Department of Organic Agriculture and Environmental Protection
  • Department of Virology and Bacteriology. 

Members of the staff include highly qualified academics, as well as research and training specialists cooperating with various domestic and foreign scientific, research and development and implementation units, government institutions, agricultural advisory centres, and in particular with producers of agricultural products and vegetables. Many young scientists of the Institute have received grants of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and other prestigious distinctions. The departments carry out tasks commissioned directly by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as part of the Multiannual Programme, as well as statutory tasks, research grants and numerous national and international projects. Scientists at the Institute publish the results of their research both in academic journals and in popular science magazines read mostly by agricultural producers. A lot of research conducted by the Institute constitutes valuable contribution to science on a global level.
