LIBRARY

The Library of the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI was established in 1950 from the book collections of the Departments of Entomology, Phytopathology and Plant Protection, which used to be part of the State Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Puławy.

In addition to collecting and lending collections, the IPP – NRI Library creates scientific bibliographic databases and catalogues, organizes trainings for students in the area of the acquisition of scientific information, creates and manages the Memorial Room dedicated to the Institute's employees and manages the archives.

The Library has been developing the Knowledge Base of the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI, which enables simultaneous search of databases and catalogues created by the IPP library.

It consists of the following modules:

1. IPP employee publications database – bibliographical and bibliometric;

2. IPP Employee Project Database;

3. Catalogue of books and conferences;

4. Journals catalogue.

 

Our Services

1. INTERLIBRARY LENDING

It is possible to use the collections of other libraries through inter-library lending.

The library carries out orders for:

• academic staff members, students and Ph.D. students of universities and institutes in Poland
• all libraries, research, agriculture and industry institutions and facilities cooperating with the IPP – NRI Library for interlibrary loans.

The order should contain a detailed bibliographic description and should be submitted via e-mail to library@iorpib.poznan.pl

2. LITERATURE THEMATIC LISTS

Our library employees prepare thematic lists of literature based on the library's own catalogues and Polish and international databases available in the library. These services are free of charge for academic staff members, students, Ph.D. students and research institutes in Poland.

When sending a query, please specify:

• subject matter,
• keywords in English (if you are interested in foreign language publications),
• keywords in Latin (names of diseases, pathogens, plants),
• publication language,
• time range.

3. READING ROOM

Everyone is entitled to use the collections in the Reading Room. The Reading Room has free access to shelves.

The following publications and materials are available in the Reading Room:

• library materials in the Reading Room and the Library Magazine,
• Master's theses – available only to academic staff members, students and Ph.D. students under the conditions specified by the Library,
• serial publications,
• library materials imported by means of interlibrary loans,
• computer and traditional catalogues,
• full text and bibliographic computer databases according to the applicable license agreements (single-user or network).

4. LENDING LIBRARY

The following persons have the right to use the resources of the Lending Library:

• academic staff members, Ph.D. students and students of the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI,
• other readers from Poland and abroad through interlibrary loans.
