The Department of Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination (ZTWiU) is mainly responsible for the dissemination and implementation of the results of scientific studies and for the collection and updating of the data pertaining to the Institute's research activity. The Department prepares reports and conclusions for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, as well as the Research Unit Questionnaire.
As part of the Institute's efforts to popularise science, the Department's employees organise conferences, in particular the annual Scientific Sessions of the Institute of Plant Protection – NRI (59 of them have already taken place), the meetings of the Scientific Council, trainings, symposia, workshops, seminars, as well as visits from school students and students of agriculture universities. In 2019, the Department organised and successfully run 13th edition of postgraduate course on integrated production, with particular emphasis on plant protection and organic farming. The aim of the studies is to prepare lecturers to conduct trainings for agricultural producers in the area of integrated production and integrated plant protection. So far, over 390 graduates have completed the course.
The Department of Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination is also active in the area of publishing. Two journals featuring papers on plant protection are being published there: the Journal of Plant Protection Research (in English) and Progress in Plant Protection (in Polish). In addition, the Department also publishes monographs, guides, atlases and other books, brochures and information materials (leaflets, posters) created by the Institute's staff members. The Department is also selling these publications.
The Department of Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination is also a home to the Institute's library that features an extensive collection of agricultural books, bibliographic databases, electronic publications, catalogues, as well as a reading room. The Department's employees run the IPP – NRI archives.
As part of its activities, the Department of Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination closely cooperates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Main Inspectorate of Plant Health and Seed Inspection, agricultural advisory centres, the Central Agricultural Library, the National Library, agricultural universities and schools, public administration bodies, as well as with the media: press, radio and television and publishing houses, graphic studios, printing houses and advertising agencies.
