Maize leafhopper Zyginidia scutellaris ‒ a new corn pest in Poland

Maize leafhopper is one of the most common hoppers in western Europe. During the inspection of corn cultivation in Winna Góra on 01.08.2019 a large number of maize jumpers were found. On one plant one could see from several to several dozens of this insect. Maize leafhopper can be considered as a new pest in Poland. Its appearance in the country may be caused by the climatic changes that favor thermophilic species.
